Today We celebrate 132 years of Coca-Cola!

On May 8, 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. John Stith Pemberton, wanting to find a formula that would cure digestion problems and provide energy, accidentally mixed his medicinal syrup with carbonated water and then walked down the street with a jug of the new product to Jacobs' Pharmacy where it was tasted by the people who rated it as "excellent". Subsequently, the glass was put up for sale in a soda fountain for five cents.

At the time Pemberton and his accountant Frank Robinson, they realized that the creation could become a great success, so they are associated. Frank, who believed that "the two Cs would look good in advertising", suggested the name and wrote it: "Coca-Cola" with his unique calligraphy.

It was 13 years after its creation in an Atlanta pharmacy that agreements were signed to bottle Coca-Cola throughout the United States and this was the birth of the base of the global business model of the company: Coca-Cola supplied the concentrate while the authorized bottlers produced the beverage, distributed it and marketed it.

Did you know that in 1915 a contest was held to achieve a single bottle model for Coca-Cola which would be common among the existing bottlers and the following ones?

The design that turned out to be the winner was that of Alexander Samuelson, with his now famous "bottle Contour" (that's his official name) which to this day and next to the logo of Coca-Cola are the most recognized icons of the company throughout the world.

Today, The Coca-Cola Company manages hundreds of beverage brands around the world. In the case of The Mexican Coca-Cola Industry as a Total Beverage Company, we have almost 70 brands in 10 different categories; In addition, 45% of our portfolio has low or no calorie options and we continue to invest in the preparation of new recipes through the Coca-Cola Innovation and Development Center.
